LINCOLN PARK — Ranalli's Pizza has a fresh summer look — complete with a new "streamlined" menu and new whimsical murals.

Four Corners Tavern Group, the group that manages the restaurant, 1925 N. Lincoln Ave., got rid of the some of the excess menu items and made pizza the star — which means more types of pies.

It was the natural choice, seeing as Ranalli's is a neighborhood pizza joint first and foremost, according to Ryan Indovina of Four Corners Tavern Group, the group that manages the restaurant.

"We're listening to what the neighbors were asking for: lighter fare, keeping pizza the star," he said.

Also part of the overhaul: the team added a few menu items like homemade meatballs, garlic bread and a couple salads — all items that will complement pizza. A rotating vegetarian pizza using the vegetables that are in season from Green City Market will debut in June.

It may not be "sexy," but Indovina said the team recently acquired a new, hi-tech pizza oven that cooks pies more consistently.

"An oven that retains and holds temperature ... it's made such a difference for us," he said.

When patrons visit this summer, they will greeted with recently painted whimsical murals by artist Anthony Lewellen. Indovina said the team "gravitated" toward his art, which has made the restaurant feel cozier already.
