CHICAGO— When DNAinfo Chicago launched in 2013, our reporters would sometimes show up to community meetings and get suspicious looks: "What are YOU doing here?" people would wonder. It had been so long since the media paid attention to neighborhood issues, no one expected reporters anymore.
But we stuck around. And we're glad we did. Covering Chicago's neighborhoods matters to us, and based on the dedicated audience we've built in the last three years, it matters to you as well.
This month, we're rolling out an awareness campaign for folks in the city who don't know who we are yet. You might see the ads at bus shelters in your 'hood, and we hope you'll let us know what you think of them.
We also want to hear what matters most to you in your neighborhood. Share a photo on Instagram or Twitter that expresses your 'hood love, and we'll share it on the site. Just tag @DNAinfoCHI or use the #neighborhoodmatters hashtag to be included.
Here are some of our reporters and editors weighing in on why their neighborhood matters.
