1 Killed, 6 Wounded in Shootings Since Tuesday Morning, Police Say

CHICAGO — Gun violence left one man dead and another six wounded, one critically, across the city between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, police said.

• Around 9:25 p.m., a 38-year-old man was shot in his back in West Humboldt Park. He later died.

• About a half hour earlier, a 42-year-old man was shot in his ankle in Little Village.

• Around 8:20 p.m., a 32-year-old man was getting into his car in the 1500 block of South Washtenaw Avenue in North Lawndale when someone shot him multiple times, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition after being shot four times in his abdomen and twice in his back, Lemmon said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• About five minutes earlier, police said, a 19-year-old man was shot in his left knee in the 8900 block of South Parnell Avenue in Auburn Gresham.

The man brought himself to Mercy Hospital, Lemmon said, where he was listed in good condition.

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.

• Around 7 p.m., a 28-year-old man showed up at Mercy Hospital with a gunshot wound in his right foot, Lemmon said.

He had been shot in the 600 block of East Bowen Avenue in Bronzeville, police said. 

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• Around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, a 21-year-old man was walking in the 3100 block of West Polk Street in East Garfield Park when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said.

He brought himself to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his arm, police said.

• At 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, police said, an 18-year-old man was standing in the 6200 block of South Kimbark Avenue when two men wearing hoodies walked up and shot at him.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his right calf.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings, police said.
