NORTH PARK — Any parent who thought tantrums ended with the terrible twos hasn't tried to take away a teen's smartphone.

"Screenagers" is a documentary about the personal battles being waged to place boundaries on youngsters' access to digital devices, plus a broader look at the effects of all that texting, gaming and internet surfing on developing brains.

The film will screen at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Northside College Prep, 5501 N. Kedzie Ave., presented by Hawthorne Scholastic Academy.

Admission is $7.50 (including a handling fee) or two for $10, with tickets available for purchase online.

A Q&A will follow the 70-minute movie, with the discussion moderated by Liz Repking of Cyber Safety Consulting.

Attendees will receive a discussion guide to help spark conversations at home.
