NORTH LAWNDALE — A 16-year-old girl was shot in her chest while riding a bike on the city's West Side Monday evening, police said.

Around 7:20 p.m. the girl was riding in the 1300 block of South Independence Boulevard when a man walked up and shot at her, according to Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The girl was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was listed in fair condition, Alfaro said.

No one is in custody, police said.
