MORGAN PARK — A 37-year-old man died on the I-57 expressway after being shot in Morgan Park Monday night, police said.
Around 8:35 p.m., witnesses said they heard gunshots in the 11100 block of South Hamlet Avenue and saw a silver van driving erratically onto the highway's northbound ramp, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.
The van came to a stop near 108th Street, Estrada said, where officers found the man unresponsive with a gunshot wound in his head.
The man has been identified as Maurice Johnston, of the 11500 block of South Wentworth Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Johnston was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:47 p.m., according to the medical examiner.

He was pronounced dead on scene, police said.
No one is in custody, Estrada said.
