
ROGERS PARK — Police are warning residents after a string of strong-armed assaults on passengers leaving the CTA Morse Red Line stop in Rogers Park.
In a community safety alert, police noted at least three attacks in May in which riders were approached by multiple people who attacked them before taking items like wallets, money, cell phones, backpacks and even work uniforms.
Around 7 a.m. Friday, two robbers jumped someone in the 7000 block of North Sheridan Road, according to police.
In that incident, one attacker is described as a black man between 35-40 years old wearing a black hoodie, white T-shirt, blue jeans and black gym shoes, as well as a black woman believed to be around 25-30 years old also wearing a white T-shirt and jeans.
Three days earlier, between 2-3 a.m. on May 10, five men believed to be between 21-29 years old attacked someone in the 1400 block of West Lunt Avenue, just north of the train stop.
The first incident included at least four men and happened around 8:20 p.m. on May 7 in the 6900 block of North Glenwood Avenue.
Similar incidents have been reported by residents in recent months.
In late-April, a Loyola student was robbed at gunpoint by three men around 2 p.m. in the 1300 block of West North Shore Avenue, and in February a woman walking home from the Rogers Park Metra stop was attacked.
