GOLD COAST — Some of the finest interiors Gold Coast has to offer will be on display for visitors to admire this weekend.

The 28th annual City Style House Tour returns to the neighborhood this Sunday, offering up self-guided tours of five homes to visitors for $165. The proceeds from the fundraiser goes to benefit students at the Chicago City Day School in Lakeview.

The event started off in 1988 as a designer showcase in one of the school’s buildings and later evolved to encompass luxury home tours, said Jessie Goodwater, development coordinator at the Chicago City Day School. The tour has featured homes in Gold Coast, Lincoln Park and other Chicago neighborhoods.

The mix of houses will showcase homes with fine furnishings, top-notch kitchens and art collections, including one home with a ‘70s-style decor and another featuring works by Andy Warhol and John Matos.

“The Gold Coast is a really popular neighborhood. We do quite well when [the tour is] in Gold Coast,” Goodwater said. “It always tends to attract a lot of people due to the history of the neighborhood.”

Local restaurants, including Tarantino's and Drizzle Kitchen, and florists, like Dilly Lily and Pistil & Vine, have also been brought on to supply food and flowers for the event. The school will also raffle off various prizes during the event such as a $1,000 cash prize, an iPad, an Apple Watch, and Chicago Cubs, White Sox and Peter Gabriel concert tickets, Goodwater said.

Tuition ranges from $21,950 to $24,200, according to the school’s website. Using the proceeds from this annual benefit, the K–8th grade students at the private elementary school will be able to take local, national and international field trips.

Goodwater said past proceeds have helped fund trips to Quebec and Costa Rica for French and Spanish students’ foreign language immersion learning. Kids also have taken education-based trips to Alabama and Washington D.C. as well as Chicago trips, Goodwater said.

“With a private elementary school, oftentimes it’s the field trips and special unique opportunities that we jump on and want to take advantage of,” Goodwater said. “These sorts of fundraisers and the extra money raised enable us to provide those exceptional, unique field trips and experiences for the kids.”
