OLD TOWN — Art on Sedgwick, a community arts organization, is hosting its first field trip Sunday.

Artists and residents alike are invited to take a Sunday afternoon trip to the Arts Incubator in Washington Park at Garfield Boulevard and Prairie Avenue. The space was brought back to life by Theaster Gates, who has made headlines for his preservation work and dedication to the arts on the South Side.

Bus transportation, provided by Secretary of State Jesse White, will be provided. The bus will leave from Art on Sedgwick, 1429 N. Sedgwick St., at 12:15 p.m. and return before 4 p.m.

At the event, there will be braiding and art workshops led by Fatimata Traore, a hair braider, teacher and entrepreneur, and multi-disciplinary artist Sarah Beth Woods.

Both of whom have taught at Art on Sedgwick in the past and attracted large crowds.

People of all ages and skill levels are welcome to attend the free event.
