LOGAN SQUARE — Would you pay $600 to have your pooch's likeness immortalized in a mural alongside your favorite dog park?

Two dozen local dogs will have their likeness painted on the side of the Kennedy Expy. along with a dog tag painted on a collar as part of an upcoming mural at the new Logan Square Dog Park.

Some of those dogs are the result of a raffle to win a spot on the wall, while others paid $600 or more to have their dogs or business name included in the mural.

The $600 option is no longer available because there is no more room for additional dogs.

AnySquared is designing and painting the mural, which has not been finalized, but will feature Logan Square landmarks, cityscapes, nature and dog-themed stencils.

Some of the dogs will be 15 to 20 feet high and will be painted by featured artists selected by AnySquared and the Artistic Bombing Crew.

"Visualize from the west side of the wall to east a transformation from a garden-scape into the cityscape in the background with the Logan Square Eagle at the center of the mural," said Tracy Kostenbader, co-founder of AnySquared, a Logan Square-based artists collective.

The dog park, which opened in August, was the result of a years-long community fundraising effort.

The mural is a similar task.

The Logan Square Dog Park Committee is spending $15,000 plus materials to paint the entire expressway wall that runs alongside the dog park.

The committee is using money it raised from previous events and fundraisers on the project.

Scraping, washing and prepping the wall for the mural starts this weekend.

The organizers of the mural as asking for volunteers to help prep the wall from noon-7 p.m. Sunday, 2526 N. Western Ave.

The mural is on schedule to be unveiled Aug. 28 to mark the park's one-year anniversary.
