IRVING PARK — Finch's Beer is either the new owner of the just-shuttered BreakRoom Brewery or a master at misdirection.

Karl Klockars, writing for the blog Guys Drinking Beer, sleuthed out a series of Instagram posts, uploaded Monday under the BreakRoom banner, that appear to confirm Finch's as the "mystery brewer" set to take over the Irving Park brewery, which quietly closed Saturday at 2925 W. Montrose Ave.

Finch's has not responded to multiple requests for comment.

The Instagram posts point BreakRoom fans to #thefinchkitchen and a Finch Kitchen website that currently consists of a yellow bird on a wire.

Finch's has been searching for ways to expand since spring 2015, when owner Ben Finch initially set his sights on building a taproom and brewery along the Chicago River.

That deal fell through and Finch's then announced plans for a brewery in suburban Long Grove.

In March, Finch's responded to a customer's Facebook query about the Long Grove facility: "As much as Finch Beer loves Long Grove, we unfortunately have to put those plans on hold for now. We do have some new exciting news coming soon so please stay tuned."

Consider us tuned.
