HYDE PARK — University of Chicago scientists will watch and break down the realities of “Ex Machina” on Saturday.

At 7 p.m. Saturday at Doc Films in Ida Noyes Hall, 1212 E. 59th St., experts on machine learning, law and biology will watch the movie about an artificial intelligence run amok and then discuss it with the audience.

The film is in part a cautionary tale about imbuing artificial intelligences with too much power, and the experts will answer questions about how realistic the movie’s concerns are and how distant they are in the future.

The screening is $5 and open to the public, but seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Spots can be reserved by visiting the event website.
