HYDE PARK — The Hyde Park Community Players will sing selections from “Spring Awakening” for its series of monthly readings on Friday.

The community theater group will sing songs from the recent Broadway revival of the play and portions of the original play from 1891 by Frank Wedekind at 8 p.m. Friday at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5500 S. Woodlawn Ave.

The reading is a departure for the group because it is more musical than prose and also breaks from the first-Friday-of-the-month schedule of readings.

Tickets are $5 and available at the door.
