CHICAGO — More than 40 percent of black Chicagoans report feeling unsafe in their own neighborhood, according to a recent survey by The New York Times.

The survey, conducted with the Kaiser Family Foundation months after the release of the Laquan McDonald police shooting video, also found that 62 percent of Chicagoans said they disapproved of Rahm Emanuel's performance as mayor.

White and Hispanic Chicagoans were likelier than black residents to give positive answers to such questions as "How would you rate your neighborhood as a place to raise children?"

Nearly half of those with children responding to the survey said they "would like to leave Chicago," the Times story says.

Here are more survey results.
