HYDE PARK — Hyde Park author Kirsten Jensen will celebrate the release of her second novel on Saturday at 57th Street Books.

Jensen, who writes under the pen name K.B. Jensen, has completed her second novel, “A Storm of Stories,” a collection of vignettes and anecdotes traded between a woman and the hitchhiker she has hit on the road as they wait for a snowstorm to pass.

“This book is edgy, surreal and takes a lot of risks,” Jensen said in an announcement of the release. “I’m looking forward to hearing from readers about it.”

She will read selections from the book at 2 p.m. Saturday at 57th Street Books, 1301 E. 57th St.

“As a Hyde Park author, I’m also really excited to have my book launch party at 57th Street Books, one of my absolute favorite bookstores,” Jensen said.

She released her first book, “Painting with Fire,” in 2014, a murder-mystery set in a much darker version of Hyde Park that has been downloaded more than 67,000 times.

The new book ranges broadly in setting from India to Denmark and Canada as the two main characters trade stories waiting for the Wisconsin snowstorm that has stranded them passes. Jensen compared it to a modern “1,001 Arabian Nights.”

Jensen is also the Indie City Writers collective.

The event is free and open to the public.
