WICKER PARK — Put on your best "Diamonds and Pearls," wear plenty of purple and get ready to party like it's "1999" at A Night of a Thousand Princes, a walk through Wicker Park to honor Prince Friday, May 6.

Numerous tributes, from murals to shrines, have appeared around Chicago since the passing of the pop, R&B and funk icon on April 21 at the age of 57.

Now, a group of fans plan to honor the artist with plenty of music and dancing while dressed to impress, just as Prince would have wanted it.

Fans will meet near the fountain in Wicker Park at sunset to pay respects to the Purple One.

The group will play Prince's biggest hits while marching through the neighborhood, with plans to head down Damen Avenue around 9 p.m. to Division Street, then over to Ashland Avenue before heading up Milwaukee Avenue.

Leave those crying doves at home though, the event hopes to "celebrate his life and legacy" instead of a somber affair. Make sure "U Got the Look" and bonus points if you can dig up a "Raspberry Beret" before next Friday.

"A Night of A Thousand Princes" will start in the park by the fountain, at 1425 N. Damen Ave. For more details, check out the walk's Facebook event page.
