OLD TOWN — About 10 months after a devastating extra-alarm fire decimated Adobo Grill, the Mexican restaurant is gearing up to open a new location right around the corner.

The restaurant is moving into the former Dinotto Ristorante spot at 215 W. North Ave., its owner, Paul LoDuca, announced on social media.

LoDuca said he is aiming to open the new location sometime in June.

Last summer, an extra-alarm fire that started as a grease fire in the kitchen at Adobo, 1612 N. Wells St., ended up destroying Second City's offices. Though Second City grabbed most of the headlines, Adobo Grill and running store Fleet Feet were left severely damaged. Fleet Feet recently reopened after a complete overhaul.

"It was our worst nightmare," LoDuca said.

Around Thanksgiving, LoDuca's landlord terminated their lease, which prompted his team to search for a new location.

After calling Old Town home for 15 years, LoDuca said it was important to stay in the neighborhood, which he said is going through a "resurgence" right now.

At the new location, patrons can expected a more "modernized" menu with more taco options, LoDuca said. Adobo's margaritas, guacamole and other favorites will remain.
