BRIGHTON PARK— Ald. Raymond Lopez (15th) will sponsor six registration events for the city's "One Summer Chicago" summer youth jobs program.
Chicagoans from ages 14 to 24 are eligible to apply.
Sign-up sessions will be held on May 4 through May 14 at multiple locations in the 15th Ward, including:
• May 5 and May 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. 15th Ward Brighton Park office, 2736 West 47th St.
• May 4 and May 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.: 15th Ward West Englewood office 1650 West 63rd St.
• May 7 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Back of the Yards Library, 2111 West 47th St.
• May 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.: West Englewood Library, 1745 West 63rd St.
"Employment is the best path to creating safer neighborhoods. I am committed to helping any young people that want to participate get enrolled," Lopez said in a statement. "One Summer gives the option for our business community to accept a new employee for the summer, funded by this program. It is a win for everyone."
Close to 400 young people have signed up thus far, officials said.
