NEAR NORTH SIDE — Police will be on the lookout for drunken drivers on the Near North Side this weekend.

The roadside safety check is planned for North Avenue and Kingsbury Street in the Near North police district, beginning at 7 p.m. Friday and ending at 3 a.m. Saturday, according to a Chicago police news release.

Officers will stop cars and look for drunken drivers, people not wearing seatbelts and other violations, police said.

The roadside check in Washington Park earlier this month yielded a total of 45 tickets, including six for drunken driving.
