IRVING PARK — Chicago's newly appointed top cop will meet with residents of the 33rd Ward at a public safety town hall.

Supt. Eddie Johnson will field questions from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Horner Park, 2741 W. Montrose Ave.

Johnson, a 28-year veteran of Chicago's police force, was unanimously approved as superintendent by the City Council earlier this month.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel tapped him to lead the city's police department after rejecting three finalists selected by the Police Board.

The 33rd Ward encompasses portions of Albany Park, Irving Park and Avondale.
