HYDE PARK — Migratory birds will get a warm reception in Hyde Park on May 14 for Migratory Bird Day at Jackson Park.

Birders will gather at 8 a.m. May 14 in the Music Court and Bobolink Meadow behind the Museum of Science and Industry, 5700 S. Lake Shore Drive.

The morning will be filled with free classes on bird photography and plants birds like, bird house building and birding walks to identify the species migrating along the western coast of Lake Michigan.

There will also be a commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Migratory Bird Treaty between the United States, Canada and Mexico protecting birds that migrate between the three countries.

Park advocates are asking birders to stay and help with the spring work day to clean up the meadow.
