BRIDGEPORT — If you’ve got a broken lamp, some busted furniture or a treasured toy that needs some love, MAKE! Chicago is here to help.

Starting Friday, the community “maker space” — a place where people interested in woodworking and metal fabrication can take classes and work on personal projects — will host its first “Fix It Friday.”

If you show up to the the group’s warehouse at 1048 W. 37th St. between noon-6 p.m. with a broken item, neighborhood makers will help diagnose the problem and offer advice on where to get replacement parts and how to make repairs.

But it’s up to you to put in the work.

The workshop costs $45 per person, but nobody will be turned away. MAKE! Chicago plans to uphold a "Pay What You Can” policy.

Going forward, Fix It Friday will take place on the second Friday of every month.
