BRIDGEPORT — Due to poor ticket sales, the “Get Sliced!” Best Pizza in Bridgeport Contest was postponed, its organizer said.

"We canceled due to poor response on having a pizza party midweek," said Ed Marszewski, a co-founder behind Marz Brewing Company and the pizza party organizer.

But that doesn't mean the neighborhood's favorite pizza joints won't get another chance to throw down for the crown of greasy, gooey goodness.

"We plan on doing it again on a weekend soon," Marszewski said.

Originally set for April 6 at the Co-Prosperity Sphere, the contest was supposed to feature a pizza pie fight card of the highest order: Freddies, Connie's, Ricobene’s, Phil’s, The Duck Inn, Lina’s and Mangia Fresca.

Hosted by Lumpen Radio — the same group that brought us Bridgeport's Got Beef Contest —  the competition would be judged by a panel of seasoned pizza nerds. The original judge lineup included former Ald. James Balcer, Reader food critic Mike Sula, and Nicole C. Lynn of the neighborhood’s legendary Jefee’s Pizzeria.
