ARMOUR SQUARE — When you come to the South Side for Monday's White Sox Opening Day, there will be plenty of great places to grab a bite and a beer.

Last year, DNAinfo Chicago reached out to some local business owners and restaurateurs to find out where they'd send fans looking for good drinks and grub in the neighborhood around Guaranteed Rate Field. Their advice still rings true:

Here's what they said:

Ed Marszewski, co-owner of Maria's Packaged Goods and Community Bar and Marz Brewing, 960 W. 31st St.

For a shot and a beer, go to Bernice's Tavern, 3238 S. Halsted St. For an ungodly amount of food, grab the "Mother-in-Law" sandwich at Johnny O's or a three-pound burrito at Martinez Supermarket, 3301 S. Morgan St.

Johnny Veliotis, Johnny O's Hot Dogs, 3465 S. Morgan St.

For an unpretentious hot dog, you can't go wrong at Morrie O'Malley's, 3501 S. Union Ave. But if you're feeling like a slice of pizza, head to Ricobene's, 252 W. 26th St.

Mitchell's Tap, 3356 S. Halsted St., is a good joint to grab a stool and sip some beers with fellow Sox fans.

Then there's Scoop's Ice Cream, 608 W. 31st St., a neighborhood cure for the common sweet tooth.

Frank Ruffalo Jr., Franco's Ristorante, 300 W. 31st St.

Stop at Ferro's Beef, 200 W. 31st St., for lunch and order an Italian beef sandwich and Italian ice. After the game roll into Turtles Bar & Grill, 238 W. 33rd St., for a drink.

Sam Ricobene Jr., Ricobene's, 252 W. 26th St.

If you're just looking to catch the game on television, head to Buffalo Wings & Rings, 3434 S. Halsted St., a decent wings spot with an ample supply of screens.

And while you're in the neighborhood, why not try a famous funnel cake sundae at Sugar Shack, 630 W. 26th St.

Jinger O'Malley, Morrie O'Malley's, 3501 S. Union Ave.

Fuel up before the game with a gyro sandwich from George's Restaurant, 3445 S. Halsted. A short drive from the Cell, a post-game beer at Shinnick's Pub, 3758 S. Union is commonplace in these parts.

Stephanie Fitzpatrick, Freddies Italian Eatery, 701 W. 31st St.

Within walking distance of the ballpark, Schaller's Pump, 3714 S. Halsted St., has no shortage of meat, potatoes and Sox fans. Opened in 1881, the popular bar bills itself as the oldest licensed liquor establishment in Chicago.

For a post-game brew, Cork & Kerry At The Park, 3259 S. Princeton Ave., is quick stop just a couple of blocks from the ballpark.
