RIVER NORTH — The future Conrad Chicago coming to River North has tapped a chef for the hotel's three new restaurants, including one on the roof.

Richard Sandoval of the Latinicity food hall in the Loop will handle food and drinks for the hotel opening this summer at 101 E. Erie St.

"In working with Richard, we know our restaurants will deliver incredible flavors with straight forward preparations to keep our guests inspired throughout their journey with us," Kelly Vohs, the hotel's general manager, said in a statement.

The restaurants include Baptiste & Bottle, a 20th-floor bourbon bar with small plates; ground-floor Italian restaurant Culaccino; and Casa Obake, a rooftop serving Japanese dishes with a Latin twist.

An opening date hasn't been set yet for the 287-room hotel at 101 E. Erie, a onetime office building.

Led by developer Laurence Geller, the planned hotel has been years in the making. Last year, a piece of glass broke off the office tower and hospitalized a pedestrian walking below

The new Conrad, a Hilton hotel, should not be confused with the former Conrad, 521 N. Rush St., which was rebranded as The Gwen last year after being sold to a new owner.
