LINCOLN PARK — The coolest new wellness facility has arrived in Lincoln Park.

The Cryobar, 1205 W. Webster Ave., which offers a range of cryotherapy, or cold therapy, treatments, is hosting a grand opening party April 9, from 12-4 p.m., where folks can get $40 treatments, down from the normal cost of $65. Those who get a $40 treatment will be entered to win a raffle. Treats from Lyfe Kitchen will be served.

During cryotherapy, the skin is exposed to extremely cold temperatures around minus-240 degrees Fahrenheit through vapor nitrogen.

The wellness facility says there's a number of health advantages, including decreasing inflammation, boosting metabolism, accelerating muscle recovery, increasing collagen production and improving athletic performance.

Cryotherapy was originally invented by a Japanese doctor in 1978 to treat rheumatoid arthritis. It has since become popular in Europe.

Founded by two Lincoln Park mothers, The Cryobar offers a number of treatments like whole body cryotherapy, cryo toning facials and an infrared sauna.

Treatments cost $40 for first-time customers and $65 after that. Walk-ins are welcome.

The Cryobar is now open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Thursday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

To schedule an appointment, call the facility directly at 773-360-1729. To find out more information, visit The Cryobar's website.
