CHICAGO — Three parks are competing for a $20,000 grant from Disney.

The parks — California, Dawes and Garfield — each have a project they're working on, but only one will receive the $20,000 grant as part of a month-long contest.

Chicago residents can help choose who gets the grant: Supporters can vote for their park online every day until the end of April. The park with the most votes will receive the grant.

Here are the parks and their projects:

• California Park, 3843 N. California Ave., wants to install white playing lines, an asphalt overlay and a color coat to two outdoor basketball courts.

• Dawes Park, 8052 S. Damen Ave., wants to rehab and upgrade its baseball field by re-grading and sizing the player infield, building a new pitcher mound and rehabbing the backstop, dugouts and bleachers.

• The Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N. Central Park Ave., wants to build a 4,500-square-foot prairie maze and a 720-foot garden.

The contest is being hosted by the National Recreation and Park Association with the Walt Disney Company. Last year, Skinner Park won the grant.
