NORTH CENTER — When it comes to managing the city's storm water, a well-placed rain barrel is just as important as the Deep Tunnel.
During Northcenter Neighborhood Association's spring workshop on Saturday, experts will discuss a variety of things people can do to help prevent flooding and make the most of April's showers.
Presentations will include: information on how to use native plants in the parkway to increase water absorption; construction techniques that assist with drainage; how to build a rain garden; tricks to maintaining a healthy lawn using organic materials; and the "Rain Ready" program developed by the Center for Neighborhood Technology.
The workshop, 10:30 a.m. to noon, is being hosted by the association's environment committee at Epiphany United Church of Christ, 2008 W. Bradley Place. Though the event is free and open to all registration is requested (click here).
