RAVENSWOOD — When it comes to gardening, now's the time to think spring.

The Montrose Metra Community Gardens is hosting a winter seed sowing workshop, 4-6:30 p.m. Sunday at Spoken Cafe, 1812 W. Montrose Ave.

Master gardener Patricia Pinianski will lead the session, demonstrating how to get a head start on spring planting by growing longer-germinating seedlings at home. (Think tomatoes and peppers, not peas or beans.)

Soil, seeds and containers will be provided, but attendees can bring seeds of their own to use or swap.

The cost of the workshop is a suggested donation of $5. Please RSVP to montrosemetragardens@gmail.com.
