HYDE PARK — Hyde Park’s schools are getting special attention during a Chicago Architecture Foundation-led bus tour on Saturday.

The “Schools by Bus” tour will hit several of the neighborhood’s most architecturally significant schools during the four-hour trip starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday at 224 S. Michigan Ave.

The tour will go by St. Thomas the Apostle, the 1924 Art Deco masterpiece designed by Barry Byrne; the classical exterior of Hyde Park Academy; the turrets at Ray Elementary School; and the University of Chicago Laboratory School’s Earl Shapiro Hall, the most contemporary of the buildings on the tour having been completed in 2013.

The tour is $55 and $47 for foundation members.

For more information or to sign-up for the tour, visit the foundation’s website.
