AUSTIN — Police said people turned in 268 guns during a buyback event at a West Side church Saturday.
Officers spent four hours at Hope Community Church, 5900 W. Iowa Street, giving out gift cards in exchange for guns and gun replicas "no questions asked," police said.
Officers gave out a $100 gift card for each gun, and a $10 gift card for each "BB-gun, air-gun, or replica firearm," according to a news release.
