CHICAGO — There's a price to pay for holding a strike on April Fool's Day.

On Friday morning, Twitter erupted with rumors that Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Karen Lewis, who was at Chicago State University with protesters Friday morning, was free as can be when Catalyst Chicago talked to her minutes after her faux arrest.

Chicago Teachers Union Vice President Jesse Sharkey told DNAinfo Lewis had not been arrested, and several other union leaders confirmed that.
