LINCOLN SQUARE — Chicago Public Schools has arranged for hundreds of schools, parks and libraries to serve as "contingency sites" during Friday's one-day teachers strike.
Though the district is urging families to avail themselves of other options, the designated sites will provide online learning opportunities, physical education, arts and crafts, and serve free breakfast and lunch, according to a statement issued by CPS.
In general, sites are open 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Advance registration is encouraged so sites can be appropriately staffed, but students won't be turned away if they're not registered.
The following are area contingency sites (click here to register), in addition to all Chicago Public Libraries. (Note: The Independence Library is listed as an option but it remains closed following a recent fire.)
Lincoln Square, North Center, Ravenswood, Roscoe Village

• Lane Tech College Prep High School, 2501 W. Addison St.
• McPherson Elementary, 4728 N. Wolcott Ave.
• River Park, 5100 N. Francisco Ave.
• Welles Park, 2333 W. Sunnyside Ave.
Albany Park, Irving Park, North Park
• Henry Elementary, 4250 N. St. Louis Ave.
• Hibbard Elementary, 3244 W. Ainslie St.
• Horner Park, 2741 W. Montrose Ave.
• Independence Park, 3945 N. Springfield Ave.
• Peterson Park, 5810 N. Pulaski Road
