HYDE PARK — Businesses across Hyde Park are offering discounts the first Thursday of every month — and there is going to be so much free parking.
The new First Thursday promotion for the neighborhood kicks off April 7 with more than 40 stores and restaurants offering discounts or other promotions for shoppers who buy local between 6-9 p.m.
Some stores are offering discounts, including clothing store Sir and Madame and restaurants Rajun Cajun and A10, which are offering 15 percent off.
Probably the best news for a lot of Hyde Parkers is that some participating businesses will be handing out vouchers for three hours of free parking at Harper Court, 5235 S. Harper Court.

Organizers plan to continue the monthly sales and promotions through December if it’s successful.
