CHICAGO — Chicago Public Schools selective-enrollment letters won't be arriving until later this week.

The elementary and magnet school letters were supposed to be mailed out on Monday. But they won't be sent out until Wednesday, CPS said, due to a furlough day and the district having to plan for the Chicago Teachers Union's "day of action."

"Due to CPS's budget situation requiring a furlough day last week, and the preparation required to ensure students are safe, fed and engaged during the one-day strike on April 1st, the elementary notification letters are delayed," CPS wrote in an online statement.

CPS plans to send out all elementary school selective enrollment, magnet and open enrollment letters on Wednesday.

Those who don't receive a notification letter by Friday, April 1 can contact the Office of Access and Enrollment at 773-553-2060 or oae@cps.edu, according to the CPS website.
