By Joe Ward | March 22, 2016 5:31pm

CHICAGO — A girl was injured in a shooting in Greater Grand Crossing Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The girl was shot in the 7100 of South Ingleside Avenue at about 3:25 p.m., said Officer Michelle Tannehill, Chicago Police spokeswoman. She was sitting at a table when someone pulled out a gun, Tannehill said.

The gun went off, striking the girl in the neck. She was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in guarded condition, Tannehill said.

Police said they could not verify the age of the girl, but the Tribune reported that the girl is 14 years old.

It is unknown if the shooting was accidental or not, Tannehill said.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, Tannehill said.
