Belgium Attacks Compared to Chicago Shootings: 'People Get Shot Every Day'

DOWNTOWN — The terror attacks in Brussels have led to some comparing the resulting deaths to those killed in Chicago's gun violence.

In Brussels, at least 14 people were killed in two explosions at an airport and at least 20 were dead after another explosion at a subway station. 

In Chicago, one person was killed and 13 wounded — including a 12-year-old boy — in shootings since Monday.

Some people took to Twitter to compare the violence in the cities, saying they were praying for both cities or thinking of those who had been killed in Brussels and Chicago. Others said Chicago sees as many deaths in a weekend as Brussels saw in the terror attacks (four people were killed and 29 wounded in Chicago shootings over the weekend) or said people didn't care about the lives lost in Chicago's violence:

"By June, street crime in Chicago alone will have claimed more lives than the terrorism in Belgium and none of you will even give a s---," one user tweeted.
