2 People Killed, 11 Wounded in Shootings Since Friday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Two people have been killed and 11 wounded in shootings since Friday, police said.

A 24-year-old woman was shot to death while sitting in her car in Hermosa, police said.

Hours earlier, a 42-year-old man died after being shot in his chest in Humboldt Park.

In non-fatal shootings:

•Most recently, at 12:19 a.m. Saturday, two people were shot in Back of the Yards, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. A man and woman, who are 29 years old, were in a car in the 4500 block of South Marshfield Avenue when an SUV pulled up alongside them and someone inside fired shots at the car.

The man was shot in his shoulder and the woman's head was grazed by a bullet, Sedevic said. They took themselves to Mount Sinai Hospital. Their exact conditions were not released, Sedevic said, but they were listed as stable.

The man is a documented gang member, police said.

• At 10:15 p.m., two men were shot in Austin, Sedevic said. The men, who are 47 and 43 years old, were standing outside in the 800 block of North Lockwood Avenue when two cars pulled up and people inside them fired shots.

The 47-year-old man was shot in his legs and the 43-year-old man was shot in his arm. They were taken to Stroger Hospital, where their exact condition was not released but they were listed as stable, Sedevic said.

• At 9 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in West Garfield Park, Sedevic said. The man was walking down the street in the 4600 block of West Jackson Boulevard when a man walked up, took out a gun and said he was robbing the victim.

The victim tried to run away but the robber fired at him, Sedevic said. The victim was shot in his lower leg. He took himself to Loretto Hospital, where he was treated and released.

• At 8:30 p.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in Morgan Park, Sedevic said. The man was inside a business in the 11200 block of South Halsted Street when someone walked in and fired shots.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. His exact condition was not released, Sedevic said, but he was listed as stable.

• At 7:05 p.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in South Deering, Sedevic said. The man was in the 10000 block of South Yates Boulevard when someone in a car shot at him.

The man was hit in his hip and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. His exact condition was not released, Sedevic said, but he was listed as stable.

The shooter drove away, Sedevic said.

• At 6:25 p.m., a 19-year-old was wounded in a shooting in West Humboldt Park, Sedevic said. The man was driving in the 1400 block of North Kildare Avenue when a light-colored sedan passed him on his right side and someone inside fired a shot at the man.

The man's head, shoulder and hand were grazed. He was in good condition at Norwegian American Hospital, Sedevic said.

The shooter drove away, Sedevic said.

• At 3:10 p.m., three men were shot in North Lawndale, Sedevic said. The men were in the 3700 block of West Grenshaw when they were shot.

A 21-year-old man was shot in his back, a 19-year-old man was shot in his arm and a 21-year-old man had his head grazed by a bullet. They were all in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, Sedevic said.

No further information was immediately available.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
