CHICAGO — A 24-year-old woman was shot to death in Hermosa on Friday, police said.
At 5:31 p.m., the woman was sitting inside her parked car in the 4500 block of West Diversey Avenue when someone got out of another car, walked up to the woman's car and fired shots multiple times, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
The victim was shot in her chest multiple times. She was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition and later died, Sedevic said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the woman as Jeanette Laureano, of the 2200 block of North Nagle Avenue.
No one was in custody in the shooting.
