ROGERS PARK — Chicago is one of the few places around the country to prominently incorporate its city flag into fashion, culture, signs and just about everything else.

It's simple, symbolic — and about to get a lot easier for Far North Siders to show off with the addition of a Local Goods Chicago pop-up shop at 6443 N. Sheridan Road.

The spot is inside the former BMO Harris Bank branch in the Loyola Station Plaza along a busy strip of North Sheridan and is set for a March 22 soft opening, with a grand opening scheduled for April 2.

The store's flagship location at 5354 W. Devon Ave. and online shop feature popular designs created by Chicago artists that feature what we love most: hot dogs, the skyline, the Chicago flag and other neighborhood and transit motifs.

Products include handmade soaps, clothing and accessories for humans (and pets), glassware and bottle openers, postcards and more.

The shop's owner, Laura Clarke Guenther, said she'll bring select goodies from the Edgebrook location, which she said will "allow the shop to bring locally made goods to a larger audience as it becomes a part of the thriving business area along Sheridan Road."

Beginning March 22, the shop will be open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays through the end of the year.
