BEVERLY — The deadline for homeowners to rent portable toilets on the weekend of the South Side Irish St. Patrick's Day Parade has been extended.

Party hosts interested in renting a toilet have until 10 a.m. Tuesday to complete their orders online. It costs $95 to rent the toilets from Service Sanitation Inc. The toilets are delivered on Friday and picked up March 14.

The outdoor toilets are popular with those who host backyard parties in the neighborhood along the parade route. The annual march down Western Avenue from 103rd to 115th streets begins at noon Sunday.

Renting a portable toilet helps reduce foot traffic from guests going in and out of the house to use the bathroom, said Marianne Rowan Leslie, the self-proclaimed "Queen of Thrones."

Leslie, a resident of West Beverly, also coordinates the small army of portable toilets paid for by the parade committee. Organizers place 150 toilets for public use along the parade route each year.
