WASHINGTON PARK — A 44-year-old man died after being shot in his back in Washington Park Friday night, police said.

Around 9:30 p.m., the man was having an argument in an alley in the 5000 block of South Calumet Avenue when the other man pulled out a gun and shot him, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was brought to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Estrada said. He was later pronounced dead.

Cook County medical examiners identified the man as Wavey Brown, of the 300 block of Washington Place.

No one is in custody, Estrada said.
