Police Search for Man Who Groped 14-Year-Old Girl in Bronzeville

BRONZEVILE — Police are looking for a man they believe sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl in Bronzeville Friday morning, according to a community alert.

Around 8:30 a.m. Friday, police said, the girl was taking out the garbage in an alley of the 4200 block of South Calumet Avenue when a man grabbed her and put his hand under her clothing. The girl broke away and ran back inside, where the police were called.

Police describe the suspect as a bald black man in his 40s with a gray mustache, possibly with a bite mark on his left hand. The man stands between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs between 140 and 160 pounds, police said.

At the time of the incident, police said, the man was wearing "dirty black jeans with holes" and a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt.
