This Weekend in Uptown: Live Music, Movies and Art

UPTOWN — There's ton of culture, music and art to explore in the Uptown and Andersonville neighborhoods this weekend, whether you're looking for some smooth jazz from a local priest or watch some flicks about Mother Nature.

Here are some things happening on the Far North Side this weekend:

Logic and Dizzy Wright at the Aragon Ballroom: Maryland rapper Logic and Michigan rapper Dizzy Wright grace the stage of the Aragon Ballroom Friday. Tickets to the all ages show are $27 and can be purchased here. 6 p.m. 1106 W. Lawrence Ave.

One Earth Film Festival at the Institute of Cultural Affairs: The film festival, which runs in various locations across the city March 4-6, will make a stop in Uptown presenting two movies Saturday afternoon at ICA. At 11 a.m., attendees will watch "Catching the Sun," and at 3 p.m., they'll be treated to "This Changes Everything." There will be a short discussion after the second film, which will include an opportunity to hear about local action. 4750 N. Sheridan Rd.

Chi-Town Jazz Festival at Green Mill: The festival, now in its seventh year, was created by Andersonville priest and guitarist John Moulder to help raise funds for hunger relief. For more information on the creation of the festival click here. The schedule for Saturday at the Green Mill includes the Tammy McCann Quartet at 8 p.m., Steve Million and Sara Marie Young Quintet at 9:30 p.m. and John Moulder and Friends at 11 p.m. Tickets for the show are $20 and available for purchase here. The Green Mill, at 4802 N. Broadway.

"Our City, Our Neighborhood" Exhibit Opens at Everybody's Coffee: The prints from Hirsohi Ariyama "capture the variations and contradictions that give Chicago its robust diversity." The reception is from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Free. 935 W. Wilson Ave.

Check Out the "Faces" Exhibit at Lawrence and Clark: Jin Lee's "Faces" explores constructing collective identities in media through a series of photographed faces "printed on metal litho printing plates resting on narrow white shelves." Open from 1-5 p.m. Saturday. 4755 N. Clark St.

Stomp and Shout at Women and Children's First: Stomp and Shout Chicago will host a mini-class at the bookstore Sunday afternoon for children up to age 5. Its "signature music and creative play classes are crafted to keep your child motivated and looking forward to the next activity by introducing a music curriculum influenced by rock, blues, folk, jazz, and pop." 3 p.m. 5233 N. Clark St.

Searching for Girl Scout Cookies? From 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Girl Scout Troop 41789 will be selling cookies at Alchemia Art of Hair, at 5009 N. Sheridan Rd. All appointments booked Saturday are 20 percent off.
