UPTOWN — Prints from local artist Hiroshi Ariyama's "Our City, Our Neighborhood" series will be on display at Everybody's Coffee next week.

The opening reception for the prints, which "capture the variations and contradictions that give Chicago its robust diversity," will be from 6 - 8 p.m. on March 4 at the coffee shop, at 935 W. Wilson Ave., a press release for the event said.

Ariyama was born in Japan, grew up in Hawaii, but has called Chicago home for the last 30 years, embracing everything about the city: the potholes, pizza, cold winters and hot summers. The experiences are reflected in the ongoing series, which depicts "simple urban scenes, representative of some aspect of daily life" enhanced "through the graphic manipulation of light, color, texture," the release said.

The show runs through April 15.

Some of Ariyama's work is also available for purchase at Andersonville Galleria, at 5247 N. Clark St. To view more of his work click here.
