BRONZEVILLE — A charter school CEO is asking residents to be on the lookout after an attempted kidnapping at a Bronzeville bus stop Tuesday morning.

Around 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, a student was waiting at the corner of 35th Street and King Drive for a bus to take her to class at the Woodlawn campus of the University of Chicago Charter School, 1313 E. 60th St., according to a notice sent by Shayne Evans, the charter network's CEO.

A man pulled up in a car and offered the student a ride, and when she declined, the man grabbed her arm, Evans said. The student then ran away and got on a CTA bus.

The suspect is described as a bald, clean-shaven black man standing at about 6 feet tall and weighing around 180 pounds with a deep voice. He was driving a newer black car with chrome handles.

Anyone with information on the suspect or the incident is asked to call police at 312-747-8201.
