LINCOLN SQUARE — The 100-year-old water main that runs under the heart of Lincoln Square is being replaced beginning this week.

Crews will install 3,500 feet of new pipe on Lincoln Avenue between Montrose and Lawrence avenues and on Wilson Avenue between Lincoln and Leavitt.

Expect "no parking" restrictions between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Though traffic will continue to flow during the majority of the construction period, work on the stretch of Lincoln between Lawrence and Leland will require complete closure for a handful of days, according to a notice from Ald. Ameya Pawar (47th).

Construction is expected to wrap up by April 1.

The Water Department is in the midst of a 10-year plan, begun in 2012, to replace 900 miles of water mains and 750 miles of sewer mains.
