Lincoln Towing Truck Caught Parked Illegally on Residential Block: Neighbor

EDGEWATER — A "Tow Zone" sign didn't stop a Lincoln Towing truck from parking in a restricted area, complete with a yellow-painted curb and diagonal stripes painted on the street.

An Edgewater resident who photographed the truck said it was parked there overnight.

The paint and stripes indicating the no-parking zone are visible next to and under the Lincoln Towing truck — a company which is now under state investigation for its towing practices.

"I find it ironic that the very people who make money from illegal parking (or legal parking in many cases) were parked blatantly illegally causing traffic around it to slow at a very busy junction," the eagle-eyed neighbor wrote in an email that asked he not be named for fear he may be towed.

A spokesman for Ald. Harry Osterman (48th) confirmed that the truck had been parked illegally overnight.

While the city does allow for some exceptions in blocked off residential street parking zones, the truck appears to violate several of them — including parking too close to the crosswalk, which can obstruct cyclists and others from being able to get a clear view of the intersection.
