NORTH MAYFAIR — Fewer than a third of Illinois' state representatives are facing a primary challenge in March — incumbent John D'Amico (D-15th) is one of them.

A coalition of civic organizations is hosting a public forum Thursday to acquaint residents with candidates running for the 15th District seat, as well as 39th Ward committeeman.

D'Amico has not committed to appearing but Democrat Jac Charlier and Republican Jonathan Edelman will be on hand to field questions.

Charlier, who co-founded the Fair Allocation in Runways Coalition to fight O'Hare jet noise, is directly challenging D'Amico's bid for re-election in the Democratic primary.

Edelman is running unopposed in the Republican primary.

In the committeeman contest, Robert Murphy is running against incumbent Patrick Molloy for the Democratic position. Murphy nearly forced Ald. Margaret Laurino into a run-off in last year's 39th Ward aldermanic election.

D'Amico is Laurino's nephew.

Both Murphy and the Republican committeeman candidate, William Miceli, are scheduled to appear at the forum, but Molloy has not confirmed.

The forum will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at Palmer Elementary, 5051 N. Kenneth Ave. The event is sponsored by the Hollywood-North Park Community Association, the Mayfair Civic Association and the North Mayfair Improvement Association.

The election takes place March 15.
