Where Is Your Neighborhood? See What You and Your Neighbors Drew on Our Map

By Tanveer Ali | February 25, 2016 7:48am

CHICAGO — Last year, we waded into a heavily contested topic: neighborhood borders.

Thousands of Chicagoans chimed in on the issue, drawing the borders of their neighborhoods and comparing them with maps made by their neighbors

We used that data to see where there is consensus on borders (Hyde Park, Rogers Park) and not so much (we're looking at you, South Loop.)

Now we've made much of that data public for Web developers, cartographers and just the plain curious. We've posted data from thousands of entries on our GitHub page.

You can download the files directly from the page by clicking "Download ZIP," but if you're looking for more of an explanation of GitHub, consult this.

Feel free to do what you like with it, such as making your own interactive maps, using it for research or even making neighborhood-centric posters. Just make sure to let us know about it and give us the credit.
